“I created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve my inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.” - Jake Parker

Initiated by local Artist Iman Rasheed, a number of Maldivian artists had presented their work on social media with the #InktoberMv hashtag.

As our launching event, Avahteri Gallery took this opportunity to collaborate with the local artists to present a selection of diverse styles, ink mediums and compositions. A selection of 31 framed artworks were displayed on our #wkndwall , an outdoor space at our gallery in Hulhumale'. Limited edition prints of these fine artworks were made available for acquisition.

Accompanied by collaborators and musicians the exhibition also travelled to Jazz Cafe’ - Male’ and Kaafu Maafushi, inviting more exposure to the artists and this creative campaign.
